Operation Save America

Bloged in Journal, Religion, Spirituality by Mike Monday July 18, 2005

I just recently came across this article, and found this interesting tidbit (emphasis mine)

Liberals here want what these countries have: laws banning gun ownership, laws restricting faith in God in public places, same-sex marriage legalized and tolerated to the point that criminal charges would be made to anyone in opposition, abortion on demand for anyone, anytime which includes early teens without parental consent, and a host of other crazy ideas like these. Canada has recently legalized same sex marriage and are considering changing or completely removing parts of the Bible that condemn homosexuality. You see, they are tearing Christianity apart a little bit at a time.

Anyone else aware of any plans to do so? I wasn’t aware the government could rewrite a religious writing… and even if they could, the most mainstream of today’s bibles was edited by a government. But, given the context and the benefit of the doubt, lets say the author of this article was refering to Canadian Christians editing their holy book. If such is the case… good for them. If you don’t keep pace with the times, you become extinct. If your point of view is that the Bible was written by God through the hands of men, then only the originals should be considered. As there were no printing press back in those days, first copies would be subject to mistakes and foul play. Translations lose meaning, and revisions are attempts to revise the ‘word of God.’ Isn’t that the very defintion of blashpemy? If your view is that the Bible was written by God, and you haven’t read it in it’s original Hebrew, you’re a hypocrite.

If your view is that the revisions were an attempt to better understand the word of God, then who’s to say revising the Bible to include homosexuals isn’t a simillar event?

Stampede and Accomplishments

Cowgirl

This is the 2nd time around that I’m missing the Calgary Stampede. At least there isn’t an onslaught of entertainers that I’d like to see. The only ones I’d be interested in are David Usher, Strada, Rooney and Terri Clark. Yes, I said Terri Clark. I used to be a country fan, m’k?

And I’d like to say how proud I am of Paula. She’s officially making more money than I am, and quite possibly will be saving more money than I can. I may hound her like a dog for follow-through, but only because I know what she’s capable of. :)

Sorry I’m not there this time ’round, Paulie. We’ll have fun at Stampede ‘06 though, m’k?

Lions 1, Thugs 0

ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia (AP) — Police say three lions rescued a 12-year-old girl kidnapped by men who wanted to force her into marriage, chasing off her abductors and guarding her until police and relatives tracked her down in a remote corner of Ethiopia.
